About Us

Our mission is to help every child become the best version of themselves, in gymnastics and beyond. We believe that a system built to develop world-class athletes is also the best system for nurturing confident, capable athletes at every level.
We develop strength, confidence, discipline, and resilience through thoughtful coaching, a safe environment, and a long-term approach to development — without pressure, fear, or unhealthy comparison.
We strive to be a home for athletes to progress as far as their ambition and ability take them.
Mokara is designed as a regional centre of excellence.
Our vision is to raise the standard of gymnastics in Singapore and Asia, while developing athletes who are confident, resilient, and equipped for life beyond the sport.
Whether a gymnastics pathway leads to elite competition or a lifelong love of movement, this commitment shapes everything we build — from grassroots development to high-performance pathways.
Intention In Everything
From the design of our facility to the structure of our programs, every detail is
carefully curated to support our gymnasts' safe progress, confidence, and growth.
Care Comes First
Gymnastics should build athletes up, not break them down. Lasting high performance grows from environments where athletes feel secure, respected, and understood.
Sustainable Excellence
We believe in long-term development over quick results, with our training
programmes structured around sound technique and longevity.
Joy in the Journey
Every child should feel proud, motivated, and happy to walk into the gym each
day. We believe a positive culture is essential to building confident, high-
performing athletes.
Mokara was founded on a clear belief: that there is immense potential in Asian gymnastics and with the right environment, coaching, and care, that potential can be developed far further than ever before.
Through her experience training across Hong Kong, Singapore, and the United States, founder Riley Lee saw firsthand both the strengths and the limitations of different systems and recognised the opportunity to raise what was possible here.
From this, she shaped a clear vision for Mokara: to build a truly world-class academy that would raise the standard of gymnastics education across the region — combining elite-level coaching and facilities with a deep understanding of what young athletes need to thrive.
At its core, Mokara is built on the belief that gymnastics should shape people, not just performance. Together with Cleo Washington and David Ward, Riley has formed a leadership team that brings deep international experience and a shared commitment to thoughtful, athlete-centred development.
The result is a gymnastics academy grounded in care, high standards, and a bold belief in what is now possible — a place where future champions are developed, and every child is given the opportunity to reach their highest potential.

Cleo Washington brings over two decades of elite coaching experience across the United States to Mokara. She has led high-performance programmes and is widely respected for her ability to develop gymnasts both technically and personally. Cleo has coached athletes at the highest levels of the sport, including U.S. National Team gymnasts such as 2017 World All-Around Champion Morgan Hurd and Nola Matthews — a five-time U.S. National Team member and Varna World Challenge Cup gold medalist. She has also guided numerous athletes who have gone on to compete in Division I NCAA programmes on scholarship, and has been recognised with honours such as Optional Coach of the Year for her impact on athlete performance and wellbeing.
Cleo’s approach centres on positive, athlete-centred coaching. She creates environments where gymnasts feel safe to take risks, learn from challenges, and grow steadily toward their goals. Her coaching emphasises purposeful progressions, thoughtful feedback, and consistent standards, ensuring every athlete receives expert guidance at each stage of development.
At Mokara, Cleo oversees both the high-performance and developmental pathways, mentors the coaching team, and plays a key role in shaping a system where athletes can thrive — whether they are pursuing excellence at the highest levels or building a strong, lasting foundation in the sport.
Our 20,000 sqft training space is purpose-built for every child’s safety, confidence, and progress.
